0.0Start at the Old Pinnacles trailhead. Chalone Creek is on the left. The trail junction for High Peaks Trail and Bench Trail is just ahead on the left. Turn right at the trail junction and continue walking toward Balconies Cave via the Old Pinnacles Trail. The Chalone Creek restoration information board is just ahead on the left.

0.5Walk across the wooden footbridge and bear left at the trail junction for North Wilderness Trail to continue walking on the Old Pinnacles Trail to Balconies Cave.

1.0Step across the seasonal West Fork Chalone Creek. You will cross the creek five more times in the next 0.7 mile.

2.0Step across the creek once more and come to the trail junction for Balconies Cliffs Trail on the right. Continue walking straight toward the Balconies Cave entrance.

2.2Come to the gate entrance to Balconies Cave. You exit Balconies Cave in 0.1 mile, then cross West Fork Chalone Creek again.

2.4Come to the trail junction for the Balconies Cliffs Trail and turn right.

2.5Arrive at the climber access trail for Tilting Terrace on the left, then come to stone steps on the left and another climber access.

2.7Viewpoint toward Machete Ridge to the left and High Peaks to the right in the background.

3.2Come to the trail junction for Balconies Cave to the right. This is the close of your lollipop. Turn left onto Old Pinnacles Trail and go back to the trailhead the way you came.

5.2Arrive back at the trailhead.
